The Seagull

“Most gulls don’t bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight—how to get from shore to food and back again. For most gulls, it is not flying that matters, but eating.” A claim by Richard Bach, in his novella, Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Over at Caorunn they don’t stick with the simple facts of making cocktails, rather they are constantly trying new combinations. This one is just right for autumn, with a little taste of summer and the implied idea that it we can take “fight” with one or two.

The Seagull was created by Ervin Trykowski, a brand ambassador for Caorunn. This is a really classic style gin drink with a Caribbean twist. Falernum, a sweet syrup used in Caribbean and tropical drinks is one of the ingredients. It contains flavors of almond, ginger and/or cloves, and lime, and sometimes vanilla or allspice. Sweat!

Ingredients

• 37.5ml Caorunn Gin
• 12.5ml Falernum
• 25ml Lemon juice
• 25ml Lillet Blanc

Glass

• Martini glass

Garnish

• Lime twist

Method

• Add all ingredients and stir and serve into a chilled Martini glass.

A really cool thing at Caorunn is you can email this image and recipe to a friend. It’s all set up and easy to do–your name, their email address. Could be fun. We’ll bring you more Caorunn cocktails as we wind down to winter.
