This is our first of what we know will be many notices of whisky and spirits tasting. If you live in the Manhattan area or you are passing through on September 20, 2013, don’t miss this one from 7 to 9PM.
It is presented by the good folks at Astor. Join them for a spirited evening of seasonal sippers that you can only find at Astor, from single barrels of whisky and unique aged gins to a whole line of tequilas and rums. Their spirits buyers have searched far and wide for single barrels and small batches that offer incredible character and quality for extremely reasonable prices. While all the Astor Exclusives will be on sale at Astor, only you will get to taste the best of them. Also, they will have some Astor Signature Cocktails with some spirits that lend themselves to mixology you can try at home.
Their whisky tasting is five Dun Bheagan 8 year-olds from the five major whisky regions of Scotland—Highland, Speyside, Islay, Lowland and Island. This is an inventive way to get the full range of tastes of the various terroirs, the sense of place, of the Scottish whisky-making areas. Stephen Winch is pouring these. Say hello to him for us: he will be posting tasting notes soon on the Transcendental Dram on a regular basis.
Astor will also have two, not yet released bourbons to taste.
Wish I could be there, but it’s my annual visit to Maine with family and friends. Slainte.
But you need to buy a ticket, and soon, because these events are popular and sell out quickly. Go here now for more details and to buy your ticket.
